This is Durham Cathedral as seen from the other side of the river valley, with the town spread out below. The cathedral is perched high on a hill and from that distance is a delicate flourish. On closer inspection of the droplet I realised it's full of roofs and chimney tops, which you can also see in the jumble of shadows in the background. It's the only one in the series that features houses in this way and I love how the very soft focus gives them an organic feel as if they had grown into the hillside.
Created as part of Reflections 2 'Light in the Darkness', a project studying landscapes reflected in droplets of water. 25 drawings were done in total, the originals are sold out along with most of the mini prints.
Printed on eco friendly paper, hand signed and numbered. The prints come bagged with a crisp white mount and backing board, 6" square (148mm). The original drawing was done in charcoal pencil on bright white Bristol board. I also include a signed certificate detailing the work, sample shown in the photos (I'm just typing them up now. Well, when I've finished this listing).
