This is Walker Churchyard in Newcastle, a beautiful spot that looks like it should be out on some windswept hillside, not tucked in the middle of a city. I have worked with the churchyard before, it's one of my favourite places to go see crows so I was very surprised this spring to turn up and find the place packed full of bright green parrots (parakeets to be precise). I knew they were in the area but there was something especially incongruous about standing in that spot surrounded by bright green things meep-ing at each other. Photo included in case you don't believe me.
Once I'd got myself together again I managed this stunning image of the long shadows cast by the afternoon sun forming a delicate web that mirrors the bare trees just beginning to bud.
Created as part of Reflections 2 'Light in the Darkness', a project studying landscapes reflected in droplets of water. 25 drawings were done in total, the originals are sold out along with most of the mini prints.
Printed on eco friendly paper, hand signed and numbered. The prints come bagged with a crisp white mount and backing board, 6" square (148mm). The original drawing was done in charcoal pencil on bright white Bristol board. I also include a signed certificate detailing the work, sample shown in the photos (I'm just typing them up now. Well, when I've finished this listing).
